Lauren + Kate // Hangar 30, Seattle
When I first met with Lauren and Kate, they stated that they were having bright, bold, and fun wedding. They wanted a giant party for their friends and family and they totally nailed it. I'm beyond thrilled that their wedding is featured in Seattle Bride's Fall / Winter 2017 Issue!
Christine + Tim // The Stables, Georgetown
Christine + Tim were married on a warm August evening at The Stables in Georgetown. The mix of funky eclectic decor and a well curated playlist from The Talking Heads to Aretha Franklin made for a completely charming day. They included friends in their ceremony by having one play acoustic guitar versions of Iron and Wine's "Trapeze Swinger" when Tim walked down the aisle with his parents, and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for Christine, her mom and step-dad. When two friends sang a song mid-ceremony Christine and her bridesmaids couldn't hold back their tears. During toasts Tim's best man and long time friend shared a photo from when they were 7 or 8 years old on a ferry boat that they've recreated over the years- the pair made sure that grabbed a new version during bridal party portraits.
One memory that sticks out to me was the way that Tim kept quietly smiling at Christine throughout the day - there was no sign of stress, no hardships or rushing around, just assurance and pure satisfaction that they were moving into the next stage of their life together.
Jules + Issac // McMenamins Grand Lodge
A bright red wedding dress, a hot August day, and so much belly laughter. Isaac and Jules were married outside of the Children's Cottage at McMenamin's Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, Oregon. I met Isaac when I was sixteen and we both worked in an Italian restaurant, so I was thrilled when they asked if I'd be interested in going down to Oregon to capture their wedding. From the multiple sets of teary eyes as Jules made her way down the stairs to her groom, to Isaac's Chewbacca call after hearing Star Wars playing on an outdoor screen nearby, it was a day packed full of joy. Thank you again for having myself and Luke (who second shot for me) out to celebrate with you guys!
Brittany + Gerrit // Melrose Market Studios
“Love is the desire to give, accompanied by the ability to receive.”
- Gerrit quoting his aunt during toasts
Gerrit and Brittany were married on a perfectly Seattle grey January day at Melrose Market Studios. “This is so them,” I heard their guests repeat throughout the wedding. The wedding program was a zine documenting their relationship and wedding party. Their playlist during dinner was exclusively songs from bands whose shows that they went to together. They had a first dance song so obscure that I couldn’t find it online. (Music enthusiasts: it was Everything But The Girl’s unreleased demo cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen”). It was sweet, relaxed, and personal. Thanks for taking me along for the ride, and for having a killer playlist all day that included The National, Death Cab For Cutie, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Alaina + Ian // Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, WA
Relaxation, a retreat, and a celebration. Alaina and Ian were married with their parents as witnesses at Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, WA. Everything about their wedding had an ease about it; when I arrived Alaina sat chatting with the moms while getting her makeup done while Ian was having lunch with the dads. They did not see each other before the ceremony, and when Ian saw his bride for the first time I had to hold back tears - his devotion to her was overwhelming in that moment.
Anna + Tom // Lopez Island, WA
Anna and Tom are so kind, so generous, and so in love with each other. On one of the craziest weather days the Pacific Northwest saw this summer - wind storms and massive rains- Anna and Tom were married in a little barn on Lopez Island in front of their families.
